How to Decide Which Startup to Invest in

Investing in startups seems to be more promising than any other type of investment, but it doesn’t work like invest in just any startup. Rather, you should pick a startup very carefully. Remember, the success depends on the right pick at right time, so before you invest in a startup you must:
  • Decide on industry focus.
  • Select an industry or a couple of industries that you are familiar with.
  • Prefer the industry you have worked in.

The right industry matters most, because you will have the advantage of understanding the market quickly and in depth. Once you have the understanding of the company’s market, it will be easier to evaluate the merits of the company and determine whether you want to commit capital to the deal.

Knowing the industry well can also give you an idea of startup’s future and how well can it do in long term? Plus you will also have a clear idea of when to cash out!
